THE GREAT OUTDOORS FUND'S mission is to provide high quality, healthy living for Greater Polk County through expanded open space, restored landscapes, and greater recreation and outdoor education opportunities.

Established in 1986, the Fund's original name was the Conservation Foundation for Polk County. Their main purpose was to receive financial contributions to help local government agencies acquire interest in property for conservation purposes.
The Fund's role has greatly expanded since its establishment...

The natural resources in the greater metro area play a critical role in maintaining our quality of life. Our trails network, parks, and greenways attract youth to this community, while providing easy access to all for healthy living through walking, cycling, birding, paddling, playing and more. These natural resources matter!

Without restored landscapes and improved habitat for both people and wildlife, we continue to place our water resources at great risk for pollution and flooding.
Without a public well-educated in conservation issues, our expenses in waste reduction, air quality improvements and fighting the impacts of global warming will continue to sky rocket.

Now is the time to invest in the mission of the Great Outdoors Fund!
